Passionate about helping our clients as she builds her legal career, Sydney brings energy and expertise to our team.

Sydney has explored a lot of the world. Born in Sai Gon, Vietnam, she grew up in Sacramento, moved to Austin to complete her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Texas, then landed in Eugene to get her law degree at the University of Oregon.

As she completed her degree, she worked for Oregon Public Broadcasting and a prominent law firm in Beverly Hills, supporting its clients in the entertainment industry, including one of her favorite artists, J. Cole.

After graduation, Sydney joined a downtown Portland law firm, where she was a dual business litigator and transactional attorney. She also joined the Board of Directors for Word is Bond, a nonprofit that empowers young Black men throughout the Portland community and beyond. To this day, she’s one of the organization’s youngest board member and the first Chair of the Governance Committee.

After spending some time at the law firm, Sydney was drawn to FP Transitions. “Before FPT, I’ve never stepped into an office and felt an instant connection to so many people so immediately,” she explains. “From the start, it was clear that this is an organization that values every single one of its members. That ethos is undeniable, and I’m just happy I get to be a part of it!”

As part of our legal team, she offers dual skills in succession planning assistance and client education. As she helps to set our clients up for success with everything from entity formation to corporate governance, she also continually researches corporate, tax, and securities law so she can stay on the cutting edge. “I can’t wait to meaningfully contribute to FPT’s client-first, mission-driven culture,” Sydney says.

Outside of work, Sydney is passionate about all things food. She loves exploring new restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, and bars, but always comes back to her admittedly biased favorite: Vietnamese cuisine. There, her conversational Vietnamese comes in handy.

When she’s not satisfying her cravings at hole-in-the-wall restaurants, she can be found hiking along Oregon’s many trails and beaches, cuddling with her cat, Enzo, and cheering for her college sports teams. You might also spot Sydney at the ice rink — while she’s left some of the major spins and jumps of her competitive figure skating days behind her, she can still skate circles around almost everyone else.
