Originally hailing from Finland, Otto moved stateside to pursue his degree at Portland State University and play Division 1 tennis for the Vikings. He completed both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science in finance there while playing in the two best tennis seasons of the men’s program history. But why stop there? He also founded and served as President of the PSU golf club.

Meanwhile, he also acted as the Consumer Discretionary Sector Analyst for a CFA Society Portland portfolio. Along with his team, he won first place in the D.A. Davidson & Co. Student Investment Competition. Not only did they finish with higher returns than the competing teams from 25 other universities, but they also beat the S&P 500 benchmark. 
Clearly, Otto has drive. And that led him to immediately start building his career upon graduation. 

He worked as a Junior Financial Analyst at Markee Valuations for a stint. While he wanted to continue down the business valuation path, he sought a company that was small enough to provide a sense of unity but large enough to offer career growth. And he found it at FP Transitions. 

“I enjoy valuing businesses because it’s a nice combination of art and science, and the role has a nice balance of crunching numbers and interacting with clients and co-workers,” Otto explains. “I also love the atmosphere and work culture at the office. It seems like everyone is really enjoying their work and people are having a great time.”

As you might have guessed from all he accomplished in his collegiate career, Otto also has plenty of pursuits outside of work. He still plays tennis and golf and enjoys hanging out with his friends and watching anime. He’s also a writer of both a sitcom pilot and his own music, the latter of which he (of course) produced, too. Oh, and he speaks four languages: English, Finnish, Swedish, and German.
